Gerda Gruber (Spurey):
Gerda Gruber wurde am 23. Februar
1940 in der nähe von Pressburg geboren.
Von 1957 bis 1962 studierte sie bei Prof. Heinz Leinfellner an der Hochschule
für angewandte Kunst in Wien.
1960 heiratet sie den späteren Leiter des Designstudio (1968 - 1970) der ÖSPAG
Kurt Spurey.
Aus diesem Designstudio stammen die Lilienporzellan Atelier Stücke.
Heute lebt Gerda Gruber in Mexiko, und unterrichtet junge Künstler.
Born in 1940 in Czechoslovakia,
resides in Mexico since 1975 and live in Yucatan.
Under the tutelage of Professor Heinz Leinfellner gets her Master Degree
in Sculpture at the Universitte für angewandte Kunst in Vienna, Austria
(1957-62).
Since 1975 she has participated in a number of sculpture workshops and
teaches in several education institutes of Canada, Mexico, Venezuela and
Puerto Rico.
During 1976-86 she was professor at
the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas of the Universidad Nacional
Autónoma de México where she founded the Ceramic-Sculpture Department
creating a group of clay sculptures in Mexico.
In 2001 she founded the Gruber Jez Foundation, a non-profit association
dedicated to encourage the development of art and to promote nascent
artists, making it a home to research, education and promotional
activities.
Participant in numerous international events, as art jury, symposiums,
congresses and lectures complements her professional life.
Since her graduation she has dedicated her life to sculpturing using a
number of media such as porcelain, clay, glass, silver, bronze and other
materials.
Her commitment to her profession as an artist has contributed to
international expositions in America, Asia and Europe as well as solo
shows in Mexico, Austria, Germany, Holland, Italy, Denmark, Venezuela
and United States of America.
